Chandigarh, Jn. A major landslide incident occurred in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday afternoon. The accident happened due to the cracking of mountains in Batseri, Kinnaur. In the afternoon, suddenly many vehicles were hit by the rocks falling from the mountain. In the accident, a huge stone fell on a tempo traveler full of tourists, killing nine people on board and seriously injuring three. One of them is also from Mohali.
He has been identified as 37-year-old Naveen Bhardwaj son Balveer Singh House No. 1192 Ranjit Nagar, Kharar. The local police have informed the family members of the injured Naveen about the incident. Rest of the injured and deceased are from Delhi and Rajasthan. The injured have been referred to CHC Sangla. According to the information received, a vehicle of tourists coming from Chitkul to Sangla was hit by a landslide due to falling rocks near Gunsa of Batseri in Kinnaur district.
A total of nine people died and three were injured in the accident.
It is being told that the tourists in the car had come from Delhi and Chandigarh to visit Himachal Pradesh. The bridge over the Baspa river has been broken due to landslides, cutting off the village’s connectivity with the rest of the country and the world. The great thing is that this incident of landslide happened in the afternoon when it was sunny. However, due to Monsoon, heavy rain alert continues in Himachal Pradesh these days.
Police and administration teams have reached the spot after getting information about the accident. Congress MLA Jagat Singh Negi said that stones are falling continuously from the hill, due to which there is a problem in the rescue operation. He said that a helicopter has been sought from the government to lift the injured to the hospital, which has been assured to reach soon. Kinnaur DC Abid Hussain Sadiq, SP SR Rana are present on the spot. It is being told that the family members of the injured have been informed about the incident.
