Rain in Jammu division, snow cover in Kashmir, traffic disrupted on Srinagar highway, Vaishno Devi helicopter service affected

Rain and snowfall are continuing in the state. There has been power outage in many mountainous areas with snowfall. Many areas were cut due to rain and snow. Katra-Sanjichhat chopper service also affected.

Rain and snowfall affected normal life in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. Due to landslides, snow cover and slippery roads, vehicular movement has come to a halt on many roads. Power supply has been severely damaged in the mountainous areas. Chills have increased in most districts of Jammu division due to the fall in temperature by 5 to 8 degrees. With snowfall in Kulgam, Shopian, Anantnag and Pulwama of Kashmir, rain continues in other areas including Tangmarg. Gulmarg has received minor snowfall. Traffic is normal on all roads except parts of Kulgam and Shopian. For the second time in the season, 15 cm of snow has fallen in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan. Due to this the Katra-Sanjichhat chopper service was affected. 30 cm in Bhairon Valley and Nathatop, 30 cm in the mountainous areas of Patnitop, Sankari Dev Sthan in Panchairi, Dudu Basantgarh, Kathua, Ramban, snow cover has been spread.
