Amid warnings of inclement weather, snowfall in the high mountainous areas of Jammu and Kashmir and rain in the lower areas fell with hail. Apart from the world famous tourist places Gulmarg and Sonamarg, the peaks of Kupwara and Gurez and Pir Panjal of Jammu division were covered with snow. Chattargalan in Kathua also received snowfall. Snowfall has occurred in Kargil and Leh of Ladakh.
It rained in Kashmir division including Srinagar and Rajori, Poonch, Udhampur, Doda, Bhaderwah in Jammu. There was hailstorm in Poonch and Udhampur districts. The Srinagar-Leh highway has been closed due to snowfall near Zojila Tunnel. According to the Meteorological Center Srinagar, the weather will be clear in the state from Monday. On Sunday, rain and snowfall brought relief to the people from the dry cold.
It was cloudy in Jammu district since morning. It also rained in some areas. This has led to a drop in the day temperature and a jump in the minimum. Gulmarg has received nine inches of snowfall. According to Sonam Lotus, Director of Meteorological Center Srinagar, the weather is expected to remain clear in the coming days in the state.
