Snowfall in Kinnaur and heavy rainfall

Snowfall is occurring in the higher areas of district Kinnaur and heavy rain in the lower areas. At present, the tourist places Chitkul, Rakham, Sangla, Kalpa, besides Asrang, Nesang, Ropa, Thangi, Kuno-Charang, Kanam, etc., are witnessing heavy snowfall. At present, six inches of snow is being recorded in Chitkul. Similarly, rain is being recorded in the district headquarters, Rekongpeo, Spilo, Tapri, etc.

Let us inform that at present in Kinnaur district, the apple crop is in the trees only in the areas above seven thousand feet. In such a situation, snowfall can cause heavy damage to plants including apples. The gardeners are worried because of the weather conditions. Due to rain, the road is getting blocked many times due to the falling of Lhase and rocks at places like Nigulsari Kharo etc. Similarly, NH-5 was blocked for several hours due to falling on the Lhasa road in Pagal Nala.
