Razia Sultana, a cabinet minister in the Punjab government, withdrew her resignation on Monday. Razia Sultana left her ministerial post in support of Navjot Singh’s resignation from the post of Congress state president. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Razia Sultana has approved to withdraw her resignation by participating.
Razia Sultana is a very close leader of Sidhu. After her resignation, she did not even attend the two cabinet meetings of the Punjab government. However, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi did not accept his resignation. After which it was being speculated that Razia Sultana would withdraw her resignation soon.
After the announcement of the name of Charanjit Singh Channi for the post of Chief Minister, it was decided that the cabinet meeting would be convened on Tuesday, but this time the cabinet meeting was called on Monday itself. Earlier, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was on a tour of Lakhimpur with Rahul Gandhi and then was busy with his son’s wedding program on Sunday.
Navjot Singh Sidhu had resigned from the post of state Congress president on 28 September. After which Razia Sultana also resigned in his support. However, the high command has not yet taken any decision regarding the resignation of Navjot Singh Sidhu. After Sidhu’s activism in the Lakhimpur incident, it is being speculated that the high command has given positive messages to Sidhu regarding his resignation.
