CM Nitish Kumar said – caste based census must be done at least once

Bihar : In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is running the government with the help of BJP, has given a big statement in favor of conducting caste based census in the state. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, once there should be a caste-based census, it is in the interest of everyone. Apart from this SC / ST, people belonging to other poor sections will also get benefit.

CM Nitish Kumar today said on Saturday, we had already put our views about caste-based census in February 2019 and 2020 in the house. Caste based census must be conducted at least once. Through this they can get the benefits of the schemes. If we know the exact numbers, then we can work towards their betterment.

Nitish Kumar’s staunch opponent and Rashtriya Janata Dal President Lalu Prasad also agrees with JDU’s view on this issue. However, JDU’s stand on the issue points to another ideological difference with ally BJP at the Center and in the state. BJP gets the support of a large number of upper castes.

Let us inform that a day after the Center had proposed to calculate the ‘Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes’ in Parliament in the past, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party JDU on July 21 announced the Other Backward Classes (OBC) on the same lines. There was also a demand for a census of the population. In this regard, a statement was issued on behalf of JDU’s Parliamentary Board Chairman and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha. He also demanded reservation in the judiciary.

JDU’s parliamentary board chairman Kushwaha had said, it is necessary that the correct population of OBCs is known. Even the Supreme Court has taken such an opinion. The report of such calculations done in the past should be made public. Along with this, regular census should be conducted on the basis of caste.” Kushwaha was answering questions on the statement made by Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai in the Lok Sabha a day ago regarding the enumeration of SCs/STs.
