Covid-19: On Covid-19 situations PM Modi speaks to chief ministers of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to the chief ministers of four states, separately over the phone, and discussed the Covid-19 situation. He dialled Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur.
Maharashtra has been the worst-affected state during the second wave of the Covid-19 infections. Speaking to CM Thackeray, PM Modi acknowledged that the state has been fighting the second wave of the pandemic well. A statement issued by the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that during their talk, Thackeray said his government has been benefiting from Modi’s guidance in the fight against the virus from the beginning, and pointed out that the Centre has also accepted various suggestions made by the state government.
Thackeray reiterated the demand for adequate oxygen supply to the state.
“The PM and Union government have been guiding Maharashtra in the corona war from the very beginning and it is being put to good use by the state government. The CM also thanked the PM for accepting some of Maharashtra’s suggestions,” told Maharashtra CMO.

According to the latest update, the state recorded over 54,000 new cases of Covid-19 in a day. Though some of its cities, including Mumbai, have seen consistent improvement, the situation in many parts of the state remains of concern.
For the last couple of days, Modi has been interacting with chief ministers over the telephone to take stock of the pandemic situation in their respective states.

In tweets, the office of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Modi expressed satisfaction over the declining infection rate in the state and assured Chouhan of all possible help from the Centre.

Chouhan informed the prime minister about various efforts being undertaken by the state to fight the pandemic and thanked him for the Centre’s support.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur also tweeted about his interaction with Modi.
According to the latest update, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh reported 11,708 and 4,177 Covid-19 cases respectively in a day.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has reported 26,465 new cases in the latest update.
Its chief minister M K Stalin took office on Friday and has now announced complete lockdown across the state to curb the rising cases.
