Hanuman Jayanti was used by PGI Employees Union (Non-Faculty), Chandigarh, to commemorate the satisfaction of their outstanding demands

Chandigarh, 23 April 2024: In celebration of getting their demands met, PGI employee unions organized a thanksgiving ceremony for Arun Sood, former mayor and former BJP president, in which he attended as the chief guest.

On this occasion, representatives of the union, BMS and contract workers presented a bouquet to Arun Sood and garlanded him. The leaders of the Joint Action Committee along with elected representatives of PGI Employees Union (Non-Faculty) along with Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and its 5 contract labor unions namely PGI Safai Karamcharis, Mahila, Security Guards, Hospital Attendants, Electrical Contract Workers Unions adopted Sood as their Heartfelt thanks and gratitude.

Expressed gratitude to Arun Sood for providing justice to 4000 contract workers and their families.
Sood, as per notification dated 09.10.2018 and decision of Hon’ble High Court dated 13.03.2019, approved a budget of Rs 46 crore for implementing equal and uniform pay to 4 categories of employees similar to directly employed employees under Rule 25. Made tireless efforts to get it done.

The union distributed laddus to celebrate its victory on Hanuman Jayanti and for equality and equal pay.

Rinku and Kavinder Kalyan, President and General Secretary, Safai Karmachari, CWU, Gurdeep Kaur Lamba and Gayatri Devi, President and General Secretary, Mihika, CWU, Harish Kumar and Parminder Singh, Balwinder Malik, President and General Secretary, Security Guard CWU, Satnam Singh Vidyut CWU. Vinod Kumar, President and General Secretary of CWU, Rajesh Chauhan, President and General Secretary of Hospital Attendants of CWU and Birendra also presented a bouquet to Sood and garlanded him.

More than 500 contract employees attended the function as the Vidhi Bhavan was packed and employees stood outside in the corridors and galleries.

In his address, former Mayor and former Chairman Arun Sood assured the contract employees that they will help in resolving other issues and will continue to work as mediators for amicable resolution of disputes through peaceful negotiations at the table.
