Uttarakhand, 15 April 2024: NaiPeople had warned of boycotting the elections over the drinking water crisis in Karayal Jaulasal area of the city. On Sunday, the sweep team of district elections reached the spot in Jaulasal area. On this, the local people protested against the team reaching the area. Everyone said that no water, no votes.
Under the Karayal Chatur Singh Drinking Water Scheme, work of laying a new pipeline is being done in the village. Due to non-completion of the work, 600 families are facing drinking water crisis. Local resident Himanshu Tadagi has announced election boycott as the drinking water problem has not been resolved even after complaining on the CM portal. Said that the officials of the sweep team that arrived on Sunday were told that they will not vote until water comes to all the houses. Told that there are about 2500 voters in this area. The sweep team assured that they will resolve the problem by talking to the JE and AE of Jal Sansthan on Monday.
Lalkuan SDM/RO Paritosh Verma said that the election sweep team had come to meet the local people. People say that they will not vote this year due to lack of water. The problem will be solved by meeting the people there. A meeting will also be held in this regard soon.
