Uttarkashi: Gomukh road is damaged at many places. When the Kanwariyas arrived, many people wanted to go to Gomukh. Therefore, in view of the danger, the Gangotri National Park administration has put up boards at the Kankhu barrier including Gangotri Dham.
Gangotri National Park has put up a notice board at Kankhu Barrier. It is written that Gomukh Marg has been damaged at many places. Therefore the movement on it has been stopped. At the same time, the traders of Gangotri Dham have expressed their displeasure over the installation of boards by the park administration.
The culvert located here was washed away due to the overflowing of Devgad, Chirbasa and Bhojgaddi drains under Gangotri National Park. During this time, two Kanwariyas resident of Delhi were washed away. With this, 38 people were trapped. Who were safely rescued by the SDRF team. After that the park administration had banned movement on Gomukh Marg.
Now when the Kanwariyas arrived, many people wanted to go to Gomukh. Therefore, in view of the danger, the Gangotri National Park administration has put up boards at the Kankhu barrier including Gangotri Dham. In which complete information has been given along with the damage to Gomukh Marg.
After the board was installed, the traders of Gangotri Dham have expressed their displeasure over it. Deepak Rana along with Satendra Semwal of the Dham say that even before this, there have been culverts in the rainy season, but at the time of Kanwar Yatra, the Gomukh Marg has never been completely blocked in this manner.
They allege that the park administration is deliberately delaying the construction of the culvert. Whereas Kanwariyas from different states of the country reach Gangotri to collect water from Gomukh. Here, RN Pandey, Deputy Director of Gangotri National Park, says that our workers are present in Chirbasa. The drains there have become terrible during the rainy season. So until the flow of water in the drains does not reduce. Till then construction work cannot be done. That is why boards have been installed.
