A Farmer’s daughter HIMA DAS is now a World Champ

India is a land of spirituality, cultures, strength, unity in diversity and talent personified. Talent has no class, no color or no creed. Talent does not require platform, because Hima Das has proved us again that talent has no discrimination but it has power that can transform water in a bucket to large ocean.

Hima Das was born in Kandhulimari village in Kandulimari, Dhing, Nagaon, Assam. Her father is Ronjit Das, a rice farmer and mother is Jonali Das. She has four siblings. Right from childhood she was always involved in sports activities with boys. She always wanted to be a soccer player. Shamsul Haque a physical education teacher recommended her to take participate in athletics. He also let her meet Gowri Shankar Roy of the Nagaon Sports Association. Her distinctive performance at district level, caught Napon Das’s attention during an inter-district competition. He is an athletics coach from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare. He asked her to shift to Guwahati for best training.

After permission from parents, she then joined Saarusajai Sports Complex where she got training in athletics along with boxing and soccer. She also competed in 2018 common wealth games in 400 meters where she stood sixth. In the same event she along with team of four participated relay race of 4 * 400 meter, in which they were seventh. It was World U-20 Championships 2018 at Tampere, Finland, in Women’s 400m in which she became the first Indian track athlete to hold a global title on winning the Gold medal. After the victory she was crying silently while our Anthem was playing. She has done the amazing stuff at 18 years of age.

It was the last week when she was trending high on twitter and many celebs were congratulating her. She is now a global icon.

The Social media was so much engaged when our PM Modi said Commentators at the stadium were also mesmerised that the daughter of India has left everyone behind. When she went up the podium, the National Anthem was played & she cried there, she was dedicated to Bharat Ma. That scene inspires the people of India.

Hima Das has made her legacy that will inspire many generations! Jai Hind.
