Haridwar: The 50th National Junior Kabaddi Championship was inaugurated in Haridwar by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, marking a significant milestone in the state’s sports development. The prestigious event, hosted by Uttarakhand, highlights the growing prominence of sports in the region and demonstrates the state’s commitment to fostering young athletic talent.
“This is a moment of immense pride for Uttarakhand, as we have been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing this junior-level national competition. It is a testament to the increasing importance of sports in our state,” Dhami remarked during the inauguration.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the state’s preparedness to host the National Games starting January 28, 2025. The event is expected to be a landmark in Uttarakhand’s sporting history, providing a platform for athletes to showcase their skills and boosting the state’s reputation as a sports hub.
The Uttarakhand government has been focused on developing world-class sports infrastructure to support athletes. Additionally, to encourage sports talent, the state has introduced a four percent reservation in scholarships and government jobs for athletes, ensuring a stable future for them while pursuing their sporting ambitions.
“At every level, our government is committed to supporting Uttarakhand’s athletes, helping them achieve national and international recognition,” Dhami added.
Through these initiatives, Uttarakhand is positioning itself as a center of sporting excellence, paving the way for future generations of athletes to thrive.
