New Delhi, Nov 11. Indian captain Virat Kohli’s captaincy in the Twenty20 format is facing a direct challenge from Rohit Sharma. The reason behind this is that Virat Kohli failed to win the IPL title even once in his eight years of captaincy, on the other hand, Mumbai Indians have been made IPL champions for the fifth time under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
Virat is the Indian captain in all three formats of cricket while Rohit is the limited-overs vice-captain. Although Rohit will not play in ODIs and T20 series in the upcoming Australia tour, but he will be part of the Indian team for four Tests. The Bangalore team reached the IPL playoffs this time but were eliminated after losing to Sunriser Hyderabad in the elimination round. Mumbai first defeated the qualifiers and then the Delhi Capitals in the final. Rohit played a match-winning inning of 68 runs in the final.
