Team Humari Baat often elaborated through our blogs that Ancient India was a land of science. Since today “Rishiyon Ki Khoj” is trending on social media so today will illustrate such inventions that were already invented by our great sages.
The great sage “Sushrut” of ancient India is considered the father of surgery worldwide. In Suhrita Sahinta, he has explained in detail about 8 types of surgeries. The eight surgeries are Chedya (excision), Lekhya (scarification), Vedhya (puncturing), Esya (exploration), Ahrya (extraction), Vsraya (evacuation), and Sivya (suturing). All these surgeries are valid even today.
Maharshi Kanad was one real gem who explored universal cosmology. He founded “Vaisheshika”, the school of Vedic philosophy. In school, he proposed the creation and existence of this universe by inventing the atomic theory. You know, the Kanad scriptures were conceptualized 2600 years ago. Not only on Atomic theory, but he also elaborated on the concepts of nuclear reaction.
Not many people knew that the great sage who glorified Devi in Skanda Purana invented generating electricity through the electric cell. In the book “Agastya Samhita” which was conceptualized in 2000 BC, it’s stated that he used One earthen pot, Copperplate, Copper sulfate, Wet saw dust (separator), and Zinc amalgam to generate electricity through an electric cell.
Might be that British mathematician William Jones devised “pi or π” in the modern world but “π” was originally invented by Great Aryabhaa. He invented zero, explained lunar and solar eclipses, and discovered the reflection of light by the moon. He also devised sinusoidal functions and the solution of a single-variable quadratic equation. Moreover, he also found out the diameter of the Earth and calculated the length of the sidereal year.
The sage who actually used Pythagoras’ theorem in his calculations is Rishi Bodhayan. He authored two major influential sutras. They are Shulba Sutra and Shrauta Sutra. He actually proposed geometry and invented many mathematical theorems including Pythagoras’ theorem. His sutras were compiled in 800 BC.
Sage Charaka, who wrote Ayurvedic texts like Charaka Samhita, explained in detail physiology, skin medicine, pregnancy, and herbal medicines. The herbal medicinal treatment given by him in ancient times is considered to be the center of today’s modern Ayurvedic medicine.
The science of aviation was discovered by Rishi Bhardwaj 7000 years ago. There is a detailed mention of “Vimaan Vidya” in the scripture “Vaimanik Prakarnm” written by him. It was only after getting inspiration from this scripture of Rishi Bhardwaj that the Rite Brothers had flown their first plane.
The list is too long. If we are willing to write all of them but it is not possible because Indian Ancient Science was so vast that we cannot match the caliber of these ancient sages. If you know any other rishi then do mention is the comment section.
