Akshaya Tritiya : An auspicious day for new beginnings.

The day Akshaya Tritiya is an auspicious day on which Jain and Hindu Communities worship their Gods and celebrates it with full passion across India every year.

On the day, worship of Lord Vishnu is performed as the most important ritual. People also believe that on this day Lord Kubera, the God of Money pleaded to Goddess Laxmi which commenced the rain of Money and Wealth on him.

These two terms ‘Akshay’ and ‘Tritiya’ hold huge importance in Hindu region. The term Akshay indicates “never diminishing” carries endless sunshine and harmony in the lives of the people who keep fast on this day and the term Tritiya originates from the fact that Akshaya Tritiya comes on the third day of the half of Vaisakhi month. Also in Jain community, they cherishes Tirthankara Rishabha’s one year fast which halted on Akshaya Tritiya when the sage ended the fast with sugarcane juice.

The day is very auspicious that people even starts their new businesses, specially they purchase gold and believers also tie the knot with their preferred partners. Wedding on Akshaya Tritiya is considered very praising as Lord Sundaresa wedded Goddess Madhura on this day.

Akshaya Tritiya is also known as Akha Teej or Akti.

Tritiya Tithi begins at 5:38 am on May 14 and ends at 07:59 pm on May 15, 2021. The auspicious muhurat to purchase gold is from 05:38 am on May 14 till 05:30 pm on May 15.
