Major accident on Uttarakhand’s Badrinath Highway; Traveller falls into Alaknanda river
Rudraprayag: A major accident has been reported from Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, according to which, a vehicle carrying 23 passengers from Delhi lost control and fell into the Alaknanda river near Rudraprayag. All the people in the vehicle were swept away in the strong current of the river. After receiving information about this accident, the police administration, District Disaster Management, DDRF and other teams reached the spot and started rescue work. The search for people in the river has been started. So far, the bodies of eight people have been recovered, while some people are injured who are undergoing treatment.
After the accident, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami tweeted, “…The injured have been shifted to the nearest health centers for treatment. The District Magistrate has been ordered to investigate the matter.
It is being said that the vehicle that met with the accident was carrying passengers from Delhi to Chopta Tungnath. There were 23 people in this vehicle including the driver. The number of all the dead has not been confirmed yet. However, according to the local people, more than 10 people may have died in this accident. This accident happened near Rentoli on the Badrinath Highway. Rescue work is being done by the SDRF and police team. So far, two injured have been sent to the hospital through ambulance by the team.
Regarding this incident, Rudraprayag SP Dr. Vishakha Ashok Bhadane said that information has been received that a tempo traveler has fallen into a ditch from the highway near Rantoli in Rudraprayag. As soon as such information was received, the police team immediately reached the spot and took stock of the incident. The search for the people who were swept away in the river due to the fall of the vehicle is ongoing.
