The Election Commission has established guidelines; if you are carrying cash for two and a half months beginning today, maintain records with you

Uttarakhand, 17 March 2024:Guidelines have been issued along with some new old rules, regulations and limitations. Star campaigners and party officials of parties can keep up to Rs 1 lakh with them.

Model code of conduct has been implemented in Uttarakhand. For two and a half months from now, if you are carrying cash for any work, you will have to keep complete records of it. The investigating teams will have to tell where the cash came from and what work it was going for. Didn’t say that the cash would be seized. Similarly, the Election Commission has issued guidelines for candidates, star campaigners and even banks.

To prevent the use of money in elections, the Election Commission issues guidelines for carrying cash in every election. Similarly, this time too some new guidelines have been issued along with old rules, regulations and limitations. Star campaigners and party officials of parties can keep up to Rs 1 lakh with them. Similarly, the candidate can also carry cash with him but he can be interrogated.

If proper documents are found during interrogation then it will be released otherwise the cash will be confiscated. Income Tax will inquire on cash up to Rs 10 lakh. Will be released only after showing proper documents.

Similarly, there are guidelines for banks also. If anyone withdraws or deposits Rs 10 lakh or more in the bank, the bank will inform the District Election Officer. The challan for the cash going to the ATM machines of banks will have to be prepared in advance on the EFMS portal. If a common man carries cash, he will have to keep all its documents with him. Source of cash will have to be disclosed. If not informed then the cash will be seized. After this, the cash can be released only if there are sufficient documents.
