Udham Singh Nagar, 2 Jan 2024: The trial of the state’s first fecal sludge treatment plant (FSTP) built under the Central Government’s AMRUT scheme has started. Along with the Municipal Corporation, private tankers are emptying the septic tank of the house and transporting the sewage sludge to the plant. It is believed that the plant will be inaugurated soon after the trials.
FSTP has been constructed at a cost of Rs 6.89 crore on one acre land near Forensic Lab in Kichha Bypass Road. Its capacity is 125 KLD per day. This is the first plant in the state under AMRUT scheme. Till now the Municipal Corporation and private tankers used to deliver the sewage sludge from the septic tanks of houses to a company’s plant in Sidcul and used to pay a fixed fee in return for it.
After the trial of FSTP started, the corporation’s tanker is delivering the sewage sludge from the septic tank to the plant. In return for this, the corporation no longer has to pay fees. Here fertilizer will be prepared from sewage sludge. Besides, water will also be used for irrigation purposes.
The trial of the plant has started. Along with the Municipal Corporation, 14 private tankers are also emptying the septic tanks of the houses in the plant and delivering the sewage sludge to the plant.
