Ramnagar: In a tragic incident, a 60-year-old woman named Tulsi Devi was killed by a tiger in Ringoda village under the Ramnagar Assembly constituency. This marks the second such incident in the area within a month, as another woman had fallen victim to a tiger attack in Dhikuli.
The increasing human-wildlife conflict has left villagers living in constant fear. Despite repeated complaints to forest department officials about tigers preying on livestock in the region, no action was taken. This negligence has fueled anger among the residents.
Outraged by the incident, villagers from Ringoda blocked the main road for four hours, placing Tulsi Devi’s body on the road as a form of protest. Their frustration was also directed at the local MLA, accusing him of not being present during times of crisis.
The protesters demanded the immediate fulfillment of long-standing requests for basic amenities such as electricity and water supply in Ringoda Khatta. Villagers emphasized that they have been fighting for these facilities for years but have received only false promises from authorities.
After hours of protest, officials assured the villagers in writing that electricity and water supply would be arranged within a week. Following this assurance, the villagers ended the blockade.
However, locals have warned of a larger agitation if their demands are not met soon. The repeated tiger attacks and the authorities’ inaction have left the villagers disillusioned. They seek urgent intervention to prevent further loss of life and ensure the provision of essential services in their area.
