A tiger devoured an old man who was guarding his field in Gularbhojan. People are terrified after the incident. Balbir Singh (65), resident of Kopa Kripali, used to work as a night watchman at Yasin’s field in Peepal Padav range. On Saturday night while Balbir Singh was on guard duty, a tiger suddenly attacked him. On Sunday morning when the farm owner’s family members went to give him tea, he was not found at the spot. His turban was lying on the ground.
After searching the area, his mutilated body was found lying 50 meters away from the bush. On receiving the information, DFO UC Tiwari and Ranger RN Gautam, outpost in-charge Vijendra Kumar reached the spot. Ranger Gautam said that prima facie it seems that the tiger might have dragged the watchman 50 meters away from the field near the drain. The old man had deep wounds on his neck and face as well. The Panchnama of the body has been filled and sent for post-mortem. The deceased has three daughters and a son. The son is a labourer. The family members are inconsolable over Balveer’s death.
Last year too, a leopard had attacked villager Prem Singh who had gone to the forest to defecate. During the struggle, the tiger had eaten off one of Prem Singh’s legs.
