Six-Year-Old Tigeress Found Dead, Possible Vehicle Collision Under Investigation

Ramnagar: During a patrol in the South Jaspur Range of the Terai West Forest Division, forest officials discovered the body of a female tiger in the Maldhan Beat. Upon receiving the information, higher officials were alerted, and they immediately reached the site to investigate.

According to the details, the forest patrol team was conducting a routine inspection in the Maldhan Beat of the South Jaspur Range on Sunday when they came across the body of a tigeress. The team immediately informed DFO Prakash Arya and other officials. The discovery of the dead tigeress caused a stir within the department, and senior officials rushed to the location. The tigeress’s body was then brought to the Maldhan Forest Chowki, where, in accordance with NTCA guidelines, a team of veterinarians, along with representatives from NGOs, conducted a post-mortem and proceeded to dispose of the body.

DFO Prakash Arya reported that the tigeress, around six years old, was found with all body parts intact. However, due to injuries to her hindquarters, it is suspected that she may have been hit by an unidentified vehicle, causing the injuries. The subsequent blood loss likely led to her death. After the post-mortem, tissue samples were sent to a higher center for further analysis. The exact cause of death will only be confirmed once the post-mortem report is received.
