Foreign Hikers Missing on Chaukhambha Mountain: Rescue Efforts Intensify
Chamoli: Two foreign women who went to Chaukhambha Three Trekking in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand are missing. Both the female climbers have been identified as Michelle Theresa Dvorak (23) of America and Fayjane Manners (27) of England. On the request of the district administration, two helicopters of the Air Service conducted a search operation on Friday, but both the female climbers could not be found. The district administration has dispatched a team of SDRF on Saturday, which will conduct a search operation to find both the foreign tourists on Chaukhambha Three Trekking.
Luggage fell during climbing on 3rd October
According to the information, on 3rd October evening, while climbing Chaukhambha, their luggage and other equipment including bags fell into the ditch. Due to which they got stuck on the snow-covered Chaukhambha mountain. Both the women contacted their embassy through Pajer. After which the Chamoli district administration requested the Air Force to conduct a search operation.
On Friday, a search operation was carried out by Air Force helicopter.
Both women had gone to Chaukhambha trekking after taking permission from the Indian Mountain Training Association. Both have permission from 11 September to 18 October. Both foreign women tractors had reached a height of 6105 meters on Chaukhambha mountain. But suddenly the district administration received information about their disappearance. After this, the district administration conducted a search operation with two helicopters of the Air Force. On Friday, two Chetak helicopters of the Air Force flew from Saharanpur Airbase and conducted a search operation on Chaukhambha-3. But even after a lot of searching, both tractors could not be found.
SDRF team will start search operation from today
DM Chamoli Sandeep Tiwari said that on the evening of October 3, information was received about two foreign female tractors getting stuck at Chaukhambha Trekking. Both the female tractors are at a height of 6105 m of Chaukhambha mountain. After which the district administration requested the air service and conducted a search operation through two helicopters. But both the air service helicopters were not successful in tracing the location. Now the SDRF team has been dispatched to search for both the tractors. It is expected that the location of both the foreign tractors will be traced soon.
