Union Minister’s Assurance Paves Way for Water and Power Projects in Uttarakhand

Hon’ble Union Water Power Minister Mr. C.R. Paatil Assured Support for Uttarakhand’s Water and Power Development Initiatives

Dehradun: In a significant development for Uttarakhand’s water and power sectors, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with the Honorable Union Water Power Minister, Mr. C.R. Paatil, in New Delhi. During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted key issues related to the state’s water management and energy infrastructure, seeking immediate attention and support from the Union Ministry.

One of the primary requests made by CM Dhami was for the release of residual funds allocated for the financial year 2024-25 under the Water Life Mission (Rural). These funds are crucial for ensuring the success of water supply and management projects in rural areas of Uttarakhand, a state where water scarcity and efficient distribution remain critical challenges.

In addition, CM Dhami urged the Minister to expedite the approval process for hydroelectric projects in Uttarakhand, specifically those planned along the Ganga river and its tributaries. These projects are expected to not only boost the region’s energy production but also contribute significantly to the state’s economic growth and development.

A significant part of the discussion also centered around the Sela Urthi Hydropower Project, located in Pithoragarh district on the Dhauli Ganga. This project is anticipated to play a vital role in increasing the state’s hydroelectric capacity and improving energy security.

Expressing his gratitude, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked Hon’ble Union Minister Mr. C.R. Paatil for his positive assurances regarding the issues raised. The Chief Minister emphasized that these projects would be pivotal in supporting the state’s aspirations for sustainable water and energy development. With these assurances, Uttarakhand is poised to make significant strides in harnessing its natural resources for the benefit of its citizens.
