Uttarakhand, 5 May 2024: To increase the income of women associated with self-help groups, they are being linked to farming under NRLM. Now the women of the group will cultivate mentha in the district. For this, CDO has sought proposals from all BDOs from their respective areas.
Mentha cultivation is considered expensive. This crop requires a lot of water. Its crop can be harvested in the summer months. After drying the crop in the sun, oil is extracted from it by processing. By cultivating mentha on about one bigha of land, production of 50 to 60 liters of oil can be achieved. It is used in many types of beauty, medicine and other purposes. Its oil is sold in the open market for Rs 1000 to Rs 1100 per litre. This crop is ready in about 120 days. The biggest advantage is that even helpless animals do not harm this crop. Dialogue
