Surveillance system will be implemented to stop illegal mining in the state
Dehradun: 40 check gate locations created to keep an eye on mining will be equipped with this surveillance system. The Chief Secretary has agreed to this. Its control center will be in Dehradun.
The state government is going to create a strict monitoring system to stop illegal mining. For this, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has given her consent to the proposal of Mining Digital Transformation and Surveillance System (MDTSS).
40 check gate locations created to keep an eye on mining will be equipped with this surveillance system. State-of-the-art technology like ANPR camera, bullet camera, RFID radar and LED flood light will be used in this entire system. The government believes that a strong surveillance system will help in stopping illegal mining and increasing revenue.
This project will cost around Rs 93 crore. This proposal was put forward in the meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) chaired by the Chief Secretary, which was agreed to. In the meeting, the Chief Secretary gave instructions to prepare an action plan for the welfare and development of the workers working in mining areas and to provide good education and health facilities to their children.
Mini command centers will be established
He also asked to prepare an action plan for the development and welfare of the laborers working in brick kilns in the state. Said, medical and insurance facilities should be ensured for such laborers. Mining State Control Center will be established in Dehradun to implement MDTSS. Apart from this, mini command centers will also be established in the district headquarters of Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar.
This surveillance system will be installed at a total of 40 check gate locations including eight check gates of Dehradun, 13 of Haridwar, 10 of Nainital and nine check gates of Udham Singh Nagar district. Secretary Brijesh Kumar Sant, Additional Secretary Dr. Ahmed Iqbal and officials of Mining and Finance Department were present in the meeting.
Seek cooperation from mining stakeholders also
Revenue loss due to illegal and illicit transportation of minerals, exceeding standards, overloading of vehicles carrying minerals, delivery at other places contrary to the delivery location given in the transit pass and other reasons will be prevented. Chief Secretary said, this will be possible through continuous monitoring system. He also directed to effectively coordinate with all stakeholders related to mining and seek their cooperation and awareness.
