Known to be the VIP sector of Chandigarh, Sector 7 residents are not at all happy with the noise pollution of the local pubs and clubs. Actually, many discs and nightclubs are running in sector 7 Chandigarh. Chandi land, dastan, and many more are located on the Madhya Marg, Sector 7C Chandigarh, behind the Madhya Marg is the residential area. The clubs make noise till late at night and disturb senior citizens, students, and small kids.
To counter such a situation and preserve the right to livelihood, residents themselves made the complaint many times to the police and mayor as well but there is no proper solution. Residents even complained that people coming to these clubs make heavy noise by their immature behavior. Last Night residents of Sector 7 C Chandigarh did a candle march to end this. They said these clubs especially Kozi, a discothèque, create an immense public nuisance by playing loud music illegally and doing other activities. They demanded that these building violations be removed. The Residents wrote to the Mayor that “We are writing to you as you being the Mayor are the most responsible citizen of Chandigarh. “The nuisance created by the discothèque is a huge problem for the people of the adjoining houses, especially the senior citizens and small children, and school kids. Various police procedures have been done by local cops under pressure from residents, but in vain,” the residents said.
It is important and the duty of the administration to listen public. Livelihood is the basic right of everyone. Those who are disturbing the harmony of society should be punished. It is the duty of the administration and authority to take care of residents first and listen to their voices.
