The Delhi court, 23 Dec 2023: while refusing to grant bail to the AAP leader, said that the case against Sanjay Singh is genuine. Also said that the evidence presented shows his involvement in alleged money laundering.
The bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in the Delhi liquor scam has been rejected. The Delhi court, while refusing to grant bail to the AAP leader, said that the case against Sanjay Singh is genuine. Also said that the evidence presented shows his involvement in alleged money laundering.
The court said that the evidence presented shows that Sanjay Singh was ‘directly or indirectly involved in activities related to the proceeds of crime’ in the alleged money laundering. Meanwhile, Sanjay Singh’s lawyers told the court that the case against him is politically motivated and there is no money case against him.
On this, Delhi Court said that according to prima facie evidence, the case against Sanjay Singh is genuine. Available evidence shows Sanjay Singh’s involvement in alleged money laundering. The evidence presented shows that Sanjay Singh was directly or indirectly involved in activities related to the proceeds of crime. The available evidence is sufficient to believe that Sanjay Singh is guilty of money laundering.
The court said that the above evidence and material is sufficient to believe that Sanjay Singh is ‘guilty’ of the said offense under Section 45 of PMLA. The court said that the conditions of bail under PMLA are not fulfilled, and also said that it can also be said that in this case the conditions prescribed for granting bail to the accused are not fulfilled.
