According to military officials, Shailendra, posted at Goldung Post, was martyred after getting hit by snow.
Rifleman Shailendra Singh Kathait, a resident of Kumrada village of Uttkashi in the Indian Army’s Garhwal Scouts of the Indian Army, attained martyrdom while on duty. There is a wave of mourning in the village and area due to the news of his sacrifice. Today the mortal remains of martyred Rifleman Shailendra will be brought to the village. Where his last rites will be performed with military honors at the ancestral ghat.
According to the information, Rifleman Shailendra Singh Kathait, posted at Goldung Post of Niti Valley of India-China border, was patrolling with his comrades yesterday, during which he was martyred while on duty.
Shailendra was the only son of the family. He has two younger sisters. He had come home only two months ago on the death of his father Kripal Singh Kathait. He returned to duty after performing the last rites of his father here. Due to his sacrifice, his wife Anju and mother Dhyan Dei are in bad condition and crying. Shailendra has two small daughters aged five and one.
