Chandigarh : Divyang of Punjab today protested against filling up of vacant posts in front of Punjab Municipal Building .In Chandigarh, blind youths from all over Punjab demonstrated outside the municipal office for giving jobs.
On behalf of the Blind Person Association, a protest was held outside the Punjab Municipal Building located in Sector-35 of the city today for their demands. There was a demand of the association members that on behalf of the Punjab government, they had to give appointment letters to the candidates of 332 posts of Divyang in the local body department for a long time, but no action was taken on this. June 20, 2019 was the last date for this. For which death was kept by the members of the association, on which the government announced on December 30 that they would fill these posts in the coming six months.
This was ignored by the Director Local Bodies due to Corona, but the strike of the Association continued. On which it was assured by the director that recruitment would be done on 31 January 2021. But no action was taken, after that on 15th April again there was a sit-in, then no action was taken citing Corona. He has appealed to CM Captain Amarinder Singh and Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mahindra to fill up their vacant posts at the earliest.
Lalit Garg, a resident of Barnala, who came to join the dharna, said that the Congress government had promised door-to-door jobs in its election manifesto. Four-and-a-half years have passed, there is no door-to-door job, but in the past, a notice was issued by CM Captain Amarinder Singh to give one lakh jobs, in which about 1 percent quota of the disabled is made, that too was not considered.
