In view of the upcoming festivals in Chandigarh, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has issued a notification to the shopkeepers and vendors to set up temporary stalls. Through this information, it was told that the approval for setting up temporary stalls would be for 3 to 7 days. Booking for the stall can be done from 10 am to 4 pm from October 25 to 28. For Dussehra, interested in temporary stalls can take coupons for 2 days from Wednesday. Apart from Sector-17 Plaza, Sector-22 C and D, it will be approved for three days at other places.
Diwali approval up to 20 days
It has been said in the notification that for Dussehra and Diwali from October 13 to 14, except for sectors 17 and 22, 20 days will be allowed.
Coupons will be distributed on first come, first served basis
Coupons for temporary stalls will be distributed on a first come and first served basis. No coupons will be distributed for 28 October. Photocopy of Aadhar Card, Passport, Voter Card, Driving License etc. will be submitted from the willing applicants to take the coupon.
Double fine will be imposed for setting up stall without permission
It was clarified by the Corporation Commissioner that for setting up stalls without permission, double the fine would be charged from the vendor or shopkeeper. Corporation officials have also been engaged for investigation in this regard. In the investigation, if any vendor is caught selling goods without permission, then all his goods will be confiscated and the stall will be taken over.
