The Punjab government has announced a compensation of fifty thousand rupees, giving relief to the families of the common people who died during the corona virus epidemic in the state. Initiating action on the instructions issued by the Center in this regard, the State Government has issued a letter to all the Deputy Commissioners and has called for the details of the people killed by Corona in their districts.

In a letter sent by the Secretary, Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Department to the District Deputy Commissioners, it has been said that according to the instructions of the Central Government, the State Government will give an ex-gratia grant of fifty thousand rupees to the families of those killed due to Corona. A decision has been taken for which a list of corona dead has been sought from all the districts. This amount will be given to the legal heir of the deceased person out of HD RFF on the instructions of the Central Government.

The letter further states that district-wise reports of people killed from corona should be sent to the government by October 15, 2021. A senior official of the department said that after the reports are received from all the districts, the concerned amount will be sent by the government to the districts so that this amount can be distributed among the affected families.

It is noteworthy that during the Corona epidemic last year, the state government had provided free treatment facilities to the common people in government hospitals, but no provision was made to provide any financial help to the families of those killed by this epidemic. However, to deal with the corona epidemic, the state government, while giving the status of front line warriors to medical staff, doctors, police and civil employees and officers posted on special duty, announced to give fifty lakh rupees ex-gratia on death of corona. .
