The fire broke out at the Fashion Street Market in Pune’s Camp area in Maharashtra. Due to the fire in the street market, very strong smoke started coming up. Trains of fire personnel reached the spot as soon as the information was received. More information on how the fire broke out has not been found.
A fire department official said that a fire broke out in the Maharashtra market late on Friday night. The fashion street market of Pune was completely destroyed in the fire incident. The official said that more than 500 small shops were burnt to ashes as the fire spread quickly throughout the area.

Fashion Street is a famous window shopping destination on MG Road in Pune, where small shops selling clothes, shoes, eyeglasses and accessories are set up. The official said that due to heavy road congestion, the fire department had a lot of difficulty in reaching the spot.
According to the Chief Fire Officer, there was a call for help from the cantonment area at 9:30 pm. The fire had quickly spread throughout the market. More than 50 firefighters, 16 fire tenders and 10 other officers along with the locals engaged in extinguishing the fire. The situation came under control at around 10 minutes of the night. However, more than 500 shops were set ablaze.
He said that the cause of the incident is being investigated. Pune’s fashion street is a very popular market and a favorite market for shopping, shops here are densely populated, due to which the fire did not take long to spread.

Significantly, this is the second fire incident reported from the cantonment area in the last 15 days. On March 16, a huge fire broke out at Shivaji Market in Pune. After this incident, at least 25 shops were burnt.
