The most worrying thing in Punjab is that the active cases are increasing continuously. On December 25, the number of these cases was 347, which has increased to 6687 on Thursday. An increase of 6340 has been registered in active cases in 13 days.
Punjab has been hit by the third wave of Corona. On Thursday, five infected people died in 24 hours, while 2427 new cases of infection have been reported. The situation has worsened in seven out of 23 districts. More than 100 cases are being registered here everyday. Patiala has become a hotspot in the districts. In 24 hours, 687 new infected have been found here alone, making the district’s infection rate the highest in the state at 27.23 percent. The infection rate of Punjab has been recorded at 10.20.
So far, samples of 16930146 people have been taken in Punjab, out of which corona infection has been confirmed in 611102 people. So far, 16662 infected have died in the state. Out of the total infected admitted in various hospitals of the state, 49 have been kept on oxygen support due to difficulty in breathing.
As the condition of 13 infected is critical, they are being treated in the Level 3 Critical Care Unit. Six have been put on ventilators. On Thursday, 1-1 infected people lost their lives in Barnala, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Patiala and Mohali. The maximum number of 687 new infected have been found in Patiala. 364 new infections have been found in Mohali, 294 in Jalandhar, 292 in Ludhiana, 187 in Pathankot, 131 in Amritsar and 116 in Hoshiarpur.
