CM Jai Ram Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh govt. has initiated a new programme Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein to identify, develop unexplored and untapped tourist places in the state. CM mentioned that out of total budget allocation of Rs. 50 crore under this programme, over Rs. 18.65 crore have been spent till 8 July 2020.
Chanshal area of Shimla district was being developed as a ski destination under this project. A proposal of ropeway/ski lift, restaurant, camping site and wayside amenities were proposed under this project. Bir Billing in Kangra district and Janjehli in Mandi district were being developed under Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein Scheme as paragliding and eco tourism destination respectively. Pong reservoir was being developed as a water sports destination under this project.
Tourism Dept. has prepared 9 circuits under Nai Raahein Nai Manzilien Scheme. The names of these 9 circuits are as follows:-
- Jogindernagar-Barot-Kothi Kohar-Rajgungja-Bir-Billing
- Sundernagar-Chail Chowk-Kamru Nag-Shikari Devi-Janjheli
- Shimla-Khara Pathar-Rohru-Sandasu-Larot-Chanshal-Dodra Kwar
- Dhauladhar Circuit
- Buddhist Circuit
- Bhakra-Bilaspur-Sundernagar-Jogindernagar-Pong Dam
- Solan-Habban-Rajgarh-Shillai
- Manali-Rohtan-Tandi-Udaipur-Killar
- Narkanda-Baghi-Khadrala-Chini (Kalpa)-Pangi Circuit
A committee of Tourism, PWD, Forests, Language, Art and Culture Officers will make a visit to the selected circuits. This committee will propose the activities which needs to be carried out in these circuits after consulting the local panchayats and other stakeholders.
