Delhi, India – After the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister, the Aam Aadmi Party is once again preparing to go to the same historical ground of Delhi from where the party’s biggest leader Arvind Kejriwal had emerged about one and a half decade ago. In fact, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Rai said on Sunday that the ‘India’ alliance of opposition parties will hold a mega rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on March 31 to “protect the interests of the country and democracy”. Let us inform that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal (55) on Thursday in connection with the money laundering case related to excise policy, after which AAP has made this announcement.
Top leadership of Indi alliance will participate in the rally
Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (‘India’) constituents AAP and Congress have announced this rally in a press conference. AAP’s Delhi unit convenor Gopal Rai said, “We will hold a mega rally at Ramlila Maidan on March 31 against what is happening in the country. The top leadership of the ‘India’ alliance will participate in this rally.” Rai said, “Democracy and the country are in danger. To protect the interests of the country and democracy, all the parties included in the ‘India’ alliance will hold this mega rally.”
Delhi Pradesh Congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely alleged that opposition parties were not being given equal opportunities. He highlighted the freezing of his party’s accounts and the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Lovely said, “The March 31 mega rally will not only be a political rally but will also call for saving the country’s democracy and raising voice against the BJP-led central government.”
Earlier, news came that after the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, party leaders including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs and councilors will hold a meeting on Sunday to chalk out future strategy. Party sources said that the meeting will be presided over by AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member Sandeep Pathak. A source said, “This is the first major meeting after the arrest of the party chief. There is a possibility of discussion on the future strategy of the party in this.
It is noteworthy that Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from his official residence on Thursday in a money laundering case related to excise policy. After this, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Friday sent the national convenor of AAP to the custody of the central agency till March 28.
