With this feeling, I had told you in February that I will meet again after the election results and today, with ‘Mann Ki Baat’, I am again present among you. The Prime Minister said that the radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ may have been closed for a few months, but the soul of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is that every day good work, work done with selfless spirit, work that has a positive impact on the society, should continue in the country and in the society. Amidst the news of the elections, you must have definitely noticed such heart-touching news.

He said that today I thank the countrymen that they have reiterated their unwavering faith in our Constitution and the democratic system of the country. The election of 24 was the biggest election in the world. Such a big election has never been held in any country of the world, in which 65 crore people have cast their votes. I congratulate the Election Commission and everyone associated with the voting process for this.

In the 111th episode of Mann Ki Baat, PM discussed the following issues…

Discussion on ‘A tree in the name of mother’
PM Modi said that if I ask you which is the most precious relationship in the world, you will definitely say- ‘Maa’. In all of our lives, ‘Maa’ has the highest status. Mother nurtures her child even after facing every pain. Every mother showers every affection on her child. This love of the mother who gave birth is like a debt on all of us, which no one can repay.
He said that we cannot give anything to our mother, but can we do anything else? With this thought in mind, a special campaign has been started on World Environment Day this year, the name of this campaign is- ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. I have also planted a tree in the name of my mother. I have appealed to all the countrymen, people of all the countries of the world to plant a tree along with their mother, or in her name, and I am very happy to see that the campaign of planting trees in the memory of mother or in her honor is progressing rapidly.
PM Modi said that everyone is planting trees for their mothers – whether they are rich or poor, whether they are working women or housewives. This campaign has given everyone an equal opportunity to express their affection towards their mothers. They are inspiring others by sharing their photos with #Plant4Mother and #Ek_Ped_Maa_Ke_Naam.

He said that the performance of our players in Tokyo had won the heart of every Indian. Since then, our athletes were engaged wholeheartedly in the preparations for the Paris Olympics. If we combine all the players, then all of them have participated in about 900 international competitions. You will get to see some things for the first time in Paris Olympics. The talent of our players is coming to the fore in shooting. Both men and women teams have qualified in table tennis. Our shooter daughters are also included in the Indian shotgun team. This time, the players of our team will also participate in those categories in wrestling and horse riding, in which they have never been included before.

Discussion on Hool Day

PM Modi said that today, 30th June is a very important day. Our tribal brothers and sisters celebrate this day as ‘Hool Diwas’. This day is associated with the indomitable courage of Veer Sidhu-Kanhu, who strongly opposed the atrocities of foreign rulers. Veer Sidhu-Kanhu united thousands of Santhal comrades and fought the British with all their might, and do you know when this happened? This happened in 1855, that is, it happened two years before India’s first war of independence in 1857, when our tribal brothers and sisters in Santhal Pargana of Jharkhand took up arms against the foreign rulers.

Talking about a special kind of umbrellas
PM Modi said that in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ today I want to tell you about a special kind of umbrellas. These umbrellas are made in our Kerala. Although umbrellas have a special significance in Kerala’s culture. Umbrellas are an important part of many traditions and rituals there, but the umbrella I am talking about is ‘Karthambhi Umbrellas’ and these are made in Attappady, Kerala.
He said that these colorful umbrellas are very wonderful. And the specialty is that these umbrellas are made by our tribal sisters of Kerala. Today, the demand for these umbrellas is increasing across the country. They are also being sold online. These umbrellas are made under the supervision of ‘Vattalakki Cooperative Agricultural Society’. This society is led by our women power.

Discussion on Yoga Day
The Prime Minister said that this month the whole world has celebrated the 10th Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and zeal. I also participated in the yoga program organized in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. In Kashmir, along with the youth, sisters and daughters also participated enthusiastically in Yoga Day. As the organization of Yoga Day is progressing, new records are being made.

Emphasised on Local for Vocal
PM Modi said that there are many products of India which are in great demand all over the world and when we see any local product of India going global, it is natural to feel proud. One such product is Araku Coffee. It is produced in large quantities in Alluri Sita Ram Raju district of Andhra Pradesh. It is known for its rich flavour and aroma.

Discussion on Snow Peace of Jammu and Kashmir
PM Modi said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are also not behind in making local products global. What Jammu and Kashmir has achieved last month is an example for the people of the country. The first consignment of snow peas was sent from Pulwama here to London. Some people got the idea that why not bring the exotic vegetable grown in Kashmir on the world map. Then what was it… Abdul Rashid Mir ji of Chakura village came forward first for this. He started growing peas grown in snowy places by combining the land of other farmers of the village and soon snow peas started reaching London from Kashmir.

Discussion on Araku Coffee
PM Modi said that about 1.5 lakh tribal families are associated with Araku coffee farming. Girijan Co-operative has played a very important role in taking Araku coffee to new heights. It brought together the farmer brothers and sisters here and encouraged them to grow Araku coffee. This has also increased the income of these farmers a lot.
He said that I remember once I got a chance to taste this coffee with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu Garu in Visakhapatnam. Don’t even ask about its taste! This coffee is amazing! The name of this initiative is – Sanskrit Weekend! It has been started by Samashti Gubbi ji through a website. This effort, which started only a few days ago, has become very popular among the people of Bangalore. If we all join such an effort, then we will get to learn a lot from such an ancient and scientific language of the world.
