Manipur:CM N Biren Singh’s government in Manipur has suffered a major setback. NDA ally Kuki People’s Alliance has withdrawn support from the government. On Sunday evening, after taking this decision, the party has announced it. Tension has been going on in Manipur since last May. The party has taken this decision amid the ongoing violence in the state and the situation not returning to normal even after three months. The Kuki People’s Alliance had two MLAs in the state government. The two KPA legislators who have withdrawn support from the Biren government are Kimneo Hangshing (Sakul) and Chinlunthang (Singat).

Denied the possibility of attending the assembly session
The Kuki People’s Alliance has taken this decision at a time when the assembly session may begin on 21 August. The Manipur cabinet had recommended Governor Anusuiya Uikey to convene a session of the assembly from August 21, but most of the Kuki legislators were unlikely to attend the session.

Earlier, Kuki People’s Alliance President Tongmang Haokip had said that no solution has been found so far on the demands of the Kuki community regarding the ongoing violence and separate administration in the state, due to which the assembly session for the Kuki-Zomi-Hamar legislators Joining will not be possible.
