Udham Singh Nagar (Kashipur), 22 Jan 2024: There was a wave of happiness after 54 families displaced from Kotdwar tehsil of Pauri Garhwal finally got transferable land tenure rights after a long struggle. Now, according to government records, this family will be entitled to government facilities, which have been awaited for years. Displaced families celebrated by distributing sweets and playing drums.

In the year 1994, 54 families of villages Dhara, Jhirna, and Kothiro of Kotdwar were displaced by the government administration saying that this area has come under the Project Corbett Tiger Reserve area under forest settlement. Due to this, everyone was displaced to the new colony located in Manpur of Kashipur. Then, on the assurance of the government and administration, all 54 families had come and settled here, but these families were not getting the benefits of government schemes.

Manipur Displaced person Anil Bhardwaj says that in the last 29 years, the families living here made many movements, but no hearing was held. Then he met CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. Kumaon Commissioner had come to Kashipur about one and a half years ago. Then the displaced families expressed their pain. After this, the process of handing over the land to the officer started.

There is an atmosphere of happiness in the village after the Secretary of Revenue issued the notification of land tenure rights on 18 January 2024.
