Five sons of Uttarakhand martyred in the terrorist attack in Kathua, a wave of mourning prevailed in the state, CM Dhami expressed grief

Dehradun: 5 army personnel were martyred in a fierce encounter between terrorists and army personnel in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Also 5 others were injured. All the martyred soldiers are from Uttarakhand. Army sources said that the terrorists first attacked, the soldiers retaliated. Some army vehicles were on regular patrol in the area. At the same time, the terrorists sitting in ambush targeted them. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed condolences. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “The news of five soldiers being martyred in a terrorist attack on an army convoy in Kathua (J&K) is extremely painful. I condemn this cowardly attack and can say with full confidence that these enemies of humanity will not be spared. I pray to God to give peace to the souls of the departed and strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense pain and speedy recovery of the injured.

Among the five martyred soldiers, two are residents of Pauri, two of Tehri and one of Rudraprayag, whose bodies will reach Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun today, from where all the bodies will be taken to their homes with state honors. They will be cremated in their native village. Uttarakhand government cabinet minister Premchand Aggarwal and local MLAs, MPs, DMs will all be present on reaching Jolly Grant Airport.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have expressed grief and called it a cowardly act, while cabinet ministers and many leaders of Uttarakhand have also expressed grief over the incident. Uttarakhand’s Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi has said that five soldiers of Uttarakhand have once again sacrificed their lives while protecting the country.

Strict retaliation must be taken for this. My condolences are with the families of those brave men who have sacrificed their lives in this ongoing war against terrorism. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.’
