Champawat:Anganwadi centers that look after the development of babies are not in very good health themselves in Champawat district. More than 75 per cent centers do not have their own buildings. 55% centers are running in a primary school room. 40 percent centers are on rent. Now in the next two years, these centers will be able to get rid of rented buildings. 160 new Anganwadi centers have been sanctioned for Champawat district.


There are total 681 Anganwadi centers of mini and full category in Champawat district. These centers are performing the important responsibility of checking, vaccinating, cleaning and creating awareness about the physical development and health of 19,000 children in the age group of six months to six years. Apart from this, the responsibility of vaccination, health and nutrition of more than five thousand midwives and pregnant women is on these centers. The work of Anganwadi centers is infant and pre-school education etc. Through these centers, the physical and mental development of children till the age of six years is done. Most of these centers do not have good infrastructure.


Only 150 centers are operated in departmental buildings in the district. 145 centers are running on rent in the district. There are 290 centers running in the school premises. Now the government has approved 160 new Anganwadi centers in Champawat district.
There is also a proposal to make 24 centers ideal
Champawat. Children will be made smart through Anganwadi centers. For this, the exercise of making these centers models has been started. In the first phase in Champawat district, 24 centers have been selected for this. These centers will be linked with modern technology along with increasing the basic facilities.

Apart from electricity, drinking water, furniture, modern technology like mobile network, digital screen will be made available in 24 centers of the district so that the children registered here can be given all the facilities available in other play schools. DPO RP Bisht says that the proposal of model centers has been sent to the directorate. Further action will be taken when the budget comes.

Barakot, Baidbaidwal, Raghaon, Kanwad, Punakot, Jauladi, Jairoli, Garsadi, Gagar, Ladhaun, Bastia, Champawat, Chakunibora, Phagpur, Talli Khatoli, Ambagh, Latoli, Laluwapani, Thanta, Kaligaon, Patan Patni, Chamola, Forti and Lohaghat.
