On the occasion of World Environment Day, the National Service Scheme Unit of Govt. Model Sr. Sec School-21A, Eco Club GMSSS Sector 21 Chandigarh, organised a series of activities collaborated with the Environment Society of India. (ESI) Dr. R C Mishra IPS DGP and MD Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Panchkula and President of Environment Society Of India was the Chief Guest of this occasion. The theme of this years World Environment day is “Land Restoration, desertification and drought resilience” and slogan is “Our land Our Planet”.Dr. Anil Kumar Rai extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest as well as other guests.Dr. R. C. Mishra delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation to motivate the participants. En. N K Jhingan Secretary ESI emphasized the need of protecting and saving the trees in stead of new plantation, as local administration is a habitual killer of the trees in the name of pruning. Dignitaries included, Er. Hem Raj Satija Vice President, ESI, En. N K Jhingan, Secretary, ESI, Dr. Anupama, Mr. D. Bangiya, Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Ms. Chandni Sharma, Ms Saranjeet Kaur, Ms. Sita kakkar, Ms. Seeta, Ms. Sukhjit Kaur, Mr. Navneet Kaur, and Ms. Anita Sood Eco Club Incharge GMSSS Sector 21, Chandigarh. A pledge to protect the environment was taken by all participants.
Dr. R. C. Mishra IPS DGP Haryana planted a plant in school campus. He distributed NSS Certificates to the NSS Volunteers. Mr. Sandeep Kumar NSS Programme Officer presented a planter to the Chief Guest. Additionally, painting and slogan competitions were organized, along with a tree plantation drive to promote environmental sustainability.
