To celebrate Harela, a festival dedicated to Hindu gods Shiva and Parvati, saplings are planted by various societies, associations, and the government.

Uttarakhand: 500 saplings will be planted on the first day. This time, under the Campa scheme, the Forest Department has set a target of planting 1.29 crore saplings on about 15 hectares of forest land in the state. Maximum number of fruit trees will be planted in this.
Harela festival has been formally started in the state from Sunday, June 16. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will start the festival by planting a sapling near the International Cricket Stadium in Raipur. During this, State Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal will also be present.

One green forest each will be developed on five hectares of forest land. Apart from this, in the 75th year of independence, 75-75 saplings will be planted in 1500 villages. Two to two and a half thousand saplings will be planted in each section. This campaign will run till August 15.
