Uttarakhand : Congress and BJP have come face to face on Agniveer Yojana. Congress’s Swabhiman Yatra will run against the scheme. The party fielded Colonel Kothiyal and Shaurya Doval.
In military-dominated Uttarakhand, the ruling BJP and the main opposition Congress have come face to face over the Army’s Agniveer scheme. Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress has announced to take out the Swabhiman Yatra to win the youth of the state in its favor through the Agniveer scheme. In response, the BJP will also launch a public awareness campaign in support of the scheme on Saturday.
Fielded Shaurya Doval, founder of India Foundation and state executive member of the party. Both the leaders termed the Swabhiman Yatra of the Congress as an attempt to mislead the youth. He told the merits of Agniveer Yojana.
In a press conference organized at the state party office, Kothiyal said, Agniveer Yojana has just completed one year and therefore its maximum result will come forward. By reducing the average age of the army, this scheme is going to increase the capacity of the Indian Army. The salary during the service and the lump sum amount given later will prove to be beneficial for the youth.
The party will run a massive public awareness campaign across the state
The scheme is creating four times as many employment opportunities as Agniveer by taking forward 25 per cent of the army after a period of four years, without cutting down on army strength. He said, serious consideration is being given to increase the limit of permanent promotion of Agniveer in the army from 25 per cent to 50 per cent. Along with this, they will get reservation in state and central government jobs after four years and the skill and lump sum amount received from the army will prove to be helpful in their self-employment. In a press conference, state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that with the aim of spreading maximum information about Agniveer scheme among the public, the party will launch a massive public awareness campaign across the state.
Doval lashed out at Congress, said, don’t confuse the youth
BJP working committee member Shaurya Doval took a dig at the Swabhiman Yatra of the Congress against the scheme. Said, these are the people who never made any effort for the betterment of the army and the country while in power. Today, we oppose every work that is started for the strength of the country and the countrymen. He alleged that without any factual information, technical knowledge and practical experiences regarding the Agniveer Yojana, the Congress has started trying to mislead the youth only and only for political gains. He advised that this plan has been brought after a long discussion of big experts, it still needs to be given time and there is scope for improvement based on experiences.
