Punjab government will make state-of-the-art libraries of government schools in the state. Children will read books from tablets in government schools. There is a plan to give 4361 tablets to 872 government senior secondary schools in the state.

The Punjab government has started the exercise to make the libraries of the government schools of Punjab hi-tech. Students will now be able to read books through tablets in libraries. The government has identified 872 such government senior secondary schools in which 4361 tablets will be kept in libraries. Along with this, apps related to e-content will also be installed in the tablet.

Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh informed that the government is making constant efforts to provide quality school education and to make the students of government schools the companions of the times. Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh informed that 872 government senior secondary schools have been selected for giving tablets by the Education Department.

Five tablets are being given to the school for the purpose of making the library of government schools hi-tech. He further informed that apps related to e-content would also be installed in tablets by the department and the schools concerned would have to ensure to keep e-content in working condition.

The Education Minister said that the department has issued instructions to all the District Education Officers (Secondary Education) concerned with the distribution of tablets regarding receipt, distribution, record and security of stock at the district level. All the District Education Officers and District Nodal Officers will check the work of the stock received under them. In case of any technical fault, the list of service centers has also been issued by the department. Instructions will soon be issued by the department to the schools regarding the use of tablets.
