Rs 7 crore revamp of cremation ground hints at open loot by AAP-Congress: BJP President

Chandigarh: Chandigarh BJP President Jatinder Pal Malhotra has slammed AAP-Congress alliance for passing the agenda of whopping Rs 7 crore for revamp of cremation ground in Sector 25 during the recent Municipal Corporation House meeting.

He said councillors of the INDI alliance have got exposed with this particular agenda and their corrupt face has got unmasked in front of the public. It seems they have now indulged in open looting of the corporation.

“What is the rationale behind spending over Rs 7 crore for renovation on a structure which needs only minor repair, as majority of the things are already there. It is a sheer wastage of public money to put up fancy flowers, make mounds and do landscaping for Rs 50 lakh. This is the plight of the AAP which claims to have come to power to eradicate corruption. What to talk of the Congress, which was thrown out of power from centre in 2014 over corruption,” said Malhotra. The BJP chief believed this much amount could have been used for welfare of public and MC’s own employees, who have been fighting for getting DC rates and over delayed salaries.“Why can not they use this money in doing development works in villages and colonies? Why cannot they pay pending salaries of poor outsourced staff workers. But, the AAP-Congress prefer to waste public money by making inflated tenders,” he added.

Malhotra said the agenda was approved despite serious objections by BJP councillors. The BJP appeals to Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit to not to approve this resolution, which is against public interests and smells corruption by the INDI alliance.
