Haldwani, 06 April 2024: A high-level inquiry was conducted into the promotion of 139 professors of the Higher Education Department to the post of professor. In this, the promotion of 38 officers, principals and professors to the post of professor is under question. Of these, 101 professors have got clean chit, while there are 18 people who are in the eligible category but their documents are incomplete. These also include the Director of Higher Education. At the same time, 20 associate professors were found who did not meet the UGC standards for the post of professor.
The process of promotion to the post of professor in higher education started in 2018. On June 11, 2019, 139 professors were promoted to the post of professor. Controversy arose in this promotion. After the matter reached the Public Service Agency, investigation was conducted. After this came to light in the investigation report, Higher Education Secretary Shailesh Bagoli informed the Director of Higher Education Prof. in the case of 20 people who got promotion contrary to the standards.
Investigation has been handed over to CD Suntha. After the hearing the report will be sent to the government. The case of 18 people with incomplete documents has been handed over to the Vice Chancellor of Kumaon University. Director of Higher Education Prof. CD Suntha said that in the case of teachers found ineligible, a committee has been formed at the directorate level and investigation has been started.
