CHANDIGARH : The City reported 5,35,174 samples tested for covid and 60,998 positive cases, including 59,648 recovered cases of corona. Moreover, The active cases has been observed to stand at 564 whereas the death rate at 786. The city has observed 70 New cases and three deaths of covid-19 on Friday. Among the fresh cases, 23 were reported from Mohali.

However , Many changes have been observed as earlier the curfew timing was from 6 pm in the evening which now changed to 10 pm – 5 am on all days. Moreover, the shops will now remain open till 6 pm on regular basis and Apart from this the city has reported full corona curfew on June 13 imposed from 5 AM to 5 AM on June 14. Meanwhile, as per the guidelines, the essential goods shops allowed to open till 2 PM including vaccines centres/ testing centres/ dispensaries and other medical centers. In addition to this, ATM’s , veterinary hospitals and other medical establishments , nursing home, Ambulance and her medical facilities will remain functional with transportation of medical staff and other hospital service support is permitted. Earlier the barbars shops are not permitted to open but now the shops are allowed to open till 2.

Furthermore, As per the sources ; government hospitals, private hospitals and other covid care centers/ medical centers a list has been received of Chandigarh.

Chandigarh recorded the highest number of covid confirmed cases between 1 -15 May which reached to 895 new cases. Weekend after weekend , curfew after curfew, Chandigarh has done a great job in preventing the new corona cases where the number of positive cases in Chandigarh has been decreased drastically . While according to some statistics the percentage of people getting at-least 1 dose of vaccine was low yet it did not affected in the number of new cases . According to the list mentioned from the sources above, this figure can be a head start to a Covid free UT . Looking to the figures received a total number of 58 new cases has been recorded including 30 males and 28 females. These figures are from different sectors , colonies and villages of the city.


The positive cases received from different sectors are low where the highest number of new cases is 8.

As of the villages and colonies , the areas like DADU MAJRA, DHANAS, HALLOMAJRA, KAJHERI, KHUDA ALISER, KHUSA JASSU, KHUDA LAHORA , MALOYA, MAULI JAGRAN and RAMBARBAR have recorded 1/2/3 cases only.

Looking to the brighter , the situation has been under control while having more recovered numbers then the new cases . a total number of 79 patients have been discharged and recovered from the virus . The number includes persons who were home isolated who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic , as per MoHFW guidelines. Whereas , full vaccination among the citizens of the city is still a goal for the administration. As most the people of UT are not getting vaccinated the administration is looking forward to the scheme of the PM Narendra Modi of free vaccination by June 21, 2021.

As per the soruces , on Saturday, Chandigarh has recorded 3 deaths due to covid-19 . Out of which were two males of 48 years old, resident of Khuda Alisher in GMCH-32 and 70 years old, resident of Sector-41 in PGIMER and one female 70 years old, resident of Bapu Dham Colony in PGIMER .

  1. PGIMER-12 : Total beds are 339 where 94 are occupied and 245 are vacant.
  2. GMCH-32 : Total beds are 103 where 46 are occupied and 57 are vacant.
  3. GMSH-16 : Total beds are 245 where 94 are occupied and 199 are vacant.
  4. CH-45 : Total beds are 42 where 1 is occupied and 41 vacant.
  5. Punjab University, International Hostel (Army) : Total beds are 100 where 0 occupied and 100 vacant.

Private Hospital –

  1. Eden Hospital : Total beds are 5 where 2 occupied and 3 vacant.
  2. City Hospital : Total beds are 9 where 0 occupied and 9 vacant.
  3. Landmark Hospital: Total beds are 13 where 8 are occupied and 5 are vacant.
  4. Mukat Hospital : Total beds are 13 where 1 is occupied and 12 are vacant.
  5. Healing Hospital : Total beds are 12 where 0 occupied and 12 vacant.
