Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia, who were going to besiege the residence of Punjab CM, were taken into custody by the police on Wednesday. It is noteworthy that on Wednesday, a tractor march was taken out by the Akali Dal on many demands, including adequate compensation to the farmers for the land to be acquired for the National Highway.

During this, a large number of workers gathered under the leadership of party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal. The Akali Dal had planned to gherao the CM House in Chandigarh. But the police took all the veteran leaders into custody after addressing the rally at YPS Chowk.

Punjab Police Sukhbir Badal, Bikram Singh Majithia, Former MP Prof. Prem Singh took all the leaders including Chandumajra in a bus and took them to the Mataur police station. According to the information, a large number of Akali leaders had started reaching the city since morning. Although the timing of the tractor rally was 10 in the morning, while the senior leaders reached till 1 in the afternoon. During this, the first leaders bowed their heads at Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib. After that Tractor joined the rally. However, as the Akali leaders were taken into custody by the police, it started raining. Earlier, the leaders said that this tractor march would be taken out with the help of Kisan Road Sangharsh Committee. In which a large number of farmers took part with tractors.

Sukhbir said that the land to be acquired by the government for the National Highway has been given many times less than the market price. This has angered the farmers. The farmers are being pushed by the present government by paying much less than the market rate, while the price of land is continuously increasing. During the Akali Dal government, 24 hours power supply was provided to the farmers of Kandi area, but the present Congress government is now going to cut the supply of motors to the farmers of Kandi area for 8 hours by laying a separate line.
