Opposition staged a walkout during PM Modi’s speech

The constituent parties of the opposition alliance ‘India’ walked out of the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday during the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has given a statement regarding this. He told what was the reason for walking out of the Rajya Sabha? Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said that we came out because the Prime Minister was addressing the House on the President’s address and he told some wrong things to the House. It is his habit to lie and say things beyond the truth. I had only asked him this when he was talking about the Constitution that today those who are making noise to save the Constitution, on this I said that you did not make the Constitution, you people were against it.

The Congress President further said, “I was just clarifying who was in favour of the Constitution and who was against it. They (RSS) have opposed the Constitution. They rejected the Constitution. They burnt the effigies of BR Ambedkar and Pandit Nehru. They repeatedly say that we insulted BR Ambedkar, they said this there (in the Lok Sabha) and they are saying the same thing even today, on this I wanted to tell what Baba Saheb has said in the Constituent Assembly, what the RSS has said and what their people have said in the Organiser, I wanted to tell all that.”

In fact, opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge wanted to intervene in the midst of PM Modi’s reply during the discussion on the motion of thanks to the President’s address in the joint session of Parliament. However, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rejected it. After this, the MPs of the ‘India’ alliance raised slogans and demanded permission for the Leader of the Opposition to speak. Kharge kept pleading repeatedly for permission to speak. When permission was granted, the MPs of the ‘India’ alliance walked out of the House. The Chairman condemned their walkout and said that it was an insult to the Constitution.

What did PM Modi say?

On this, PM Modi said that the country is seeing that those who spread lies do not even have the strength to listen to the truth. Those who do not have the courage to face the truth, do not have the courage to sit and listen to the answers to the questions raised by them after so much discussion. They are insulting the Upper House. The people of the country have defeated them in every way that now they have nothing left except screaming in the streets. Sloganeering, uproar and running away from the field… this is written in their fate.

He told the Speaker that I can understand your pain, they are not able to digest the decision given by 140 crore countrymen, the mandate given. Yesterday all their actions failed, so today they did not even have the courage to fight that battle, so they ran away from the field. I am bound by duty, I have not come here to score on the debate. I am a servant of the country, I have come to give my account to the countrymen. I consider it my duty to give an account of my every moment to the people of the country.
