National Energy Conservation Award 2021 will be given to Punjab Energy Development Agency. The award will be given on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day in New Delhi on 14th December.

Ahead of the elections, good news has come for Punjab on Friday. Punjab has got the first place in the country in energy conservation. PEDA has been selected for the National Energy Conservation Award 2021. The award will be given to Punjab at a function to be held in Delhi on National Energy Conservation Day on December 14.

Expressing happiness that Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has received the first award in the country for its outstanding performance, Punjab Energy Development Minister Dr. Raj Kumar Verka said that with this their responsibilities have increased even more. Now every effort will have to be made not only to retain this position, but also to implement every possibility in areas like solar energy and biomass, so that the energy shortage in the state can be dealt with.

Verka informed that more and more use of renewable energy by PEDA to meet the increasing demand for electricity and depletion of natural resources like water, coal etc.

Solar power projects of 815.5 MW on Ground Mounted, 136.1 MW on Roof Solar and 20 MW on Canals (Canal Top) are still operational. The number of these projects are 71, 14 and 4 respectively. According to Verka, only 729.17 MW of solar power projects have been installed and 58.75 MW projects are under progress. The renewable energy projects include Biomass Co-generation Power Project 458.07 MW and Biomass Power Project 97.5 MW.
